One jaw of an adjustable clamp is designed to slide along the frame to make the capacity adjustable. The coefficient of friction between the ajw and the frame is 0.40. Determine the minimum value of the dimension "e;x"e; necessary to prevent the jaw of the clamp from slipping under tload.

The FBD of the movable jaw is drawn.
the moment equation about point A is written.
The force equation in the y direction is written.  This establishes 
the relationship between the forces at A and B.
The force equation in the x direction is written.
The two normal forces are combined and called N.  The force P must 
therefore overcome the frictional force caused by the combined normal
