The frame shown consists of members AD and EH, which are connected by two links. Determine the force in each link for the given loading.

The reactions are usually found first.


The force equation in the y-direction yields the the equation 
A<sub>y</sub>+e<sub>y</sub>=800.
Next the FBD of EFG is given and geometrical realationships 
for G.
The force equation in the x-direction is written.  Only one 
component for G is found the other is found by geometric 
proportion.
The moment eqaution about point E is written for member ABC.
The vertical force equation is written, all found and 
known values substituted and the vertical value of E found.
The force component of A in the y-direction is found.
