A machine component is subjected to the forces and couples shown. The component is to be held in place by a single rivet that can resist a force but not a couple. Determine the location of the rivet hole if it is to be located on line FG.

The sum of x-components of all forces is found.
The sum of y-components of all forces is found.
The resultant force can then be written as the vector sum of the x and y 
forces.
Since G is a point on both line FG, taking moments about G 
will be an efficient method.
The moment of all force about G is taken by breaking all force into x and 
y components and then multiply the x component by the perpendicular or y 
component of the distance and the y component of the force by the x component 
of the distance.
Arithmetic yields the answer for moment about point B.
Since FG is a vertical line, only the horizontal component of the resultant 
is used to find the vertical distance d.
Dividing by the coefficient for d (-152), allows us to calculate d.
Since GH is a horizontal line, only the vertical component of the resultant 
is used to find the horizontal distance e.
Dividing by the coefficient for e _245), allows us to calculate e.
